It’s always nice when my town gets kudos from the media and even better when they use my photos to illustrate the story.
A view from the Ventura Botanical Gardens was the lead image, along with Watermark on Main and Paradise Pantry.
Historic Ventura, California is featured in the new Summer issue of PRESERVATION MAGAZINE the magazine of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. With a thumbs up to Cafe Zack, Poseidon Brewing, Paradise Pantry, Pete’s Breakfast House, Allison’s Cafe, Corrales, Taqueria Tepatitlan, Capriccio, the Watermark and the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach… along with interviews of Scotty Morris and Anna Bermudez and me.
The story included my photography of the Ventura Botanical Gardens trail, Watermark Restaurant on Main Street, and Paradise pantry (three of my favorite places). These photos were for the magazine’s “Itinerary” section which features a historic town in the USA worth visiting. Ventura, California “ A small beachside city welcomes both outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs.” Proving again the economic vitality of authentic cities with intact, historic downtowns, and a culture of adaptive reuse and entrepreneurship. Preservation is good for business, tourism and the wellbeing of the citizens. (But we already knew that.) It may not have been a HABS photography project but it showcased the history on my home in color instead.
